Leila has been working in the international aid and development sector since the mid-2000s. Prior to joining NRGI, she worked on both humanitarian response and disaster preparedness programs in Asia and the Caribbean and on development programs across a global portfolio, partnering with locally based NGOs and CSOs to work on gender, HIV/AIDS, land rights, livelihoods, governance, extractives and conflict transformation.
She has also worked in the elections sector and on educational programs with refugee groups in the U.K. and spent time based in Asia, Moscow and Romania.
Leila studied English literature, linguistics, Russian and development studies at universities in London. She is learning Georgian.
