Lizzie works with NRGI staff and partners to develop engagement with Chinese companies and other actors in the extractives sector.
Prior to joining NRGI, Lizzie led Global Witness’ China program, working to increase responsible sourcing of minerals, oil and timber from high-risk environments and to develop responsible business guidelines for the Chinese mineral and rubber industries. Before that, Lizzie worked in Global Witness’ Democratic Republic of Congo team, conducting research and advocacy related to corruption in the mining sector, financing of armed groups from the minerals trade, legislative reform of the oil and gas sector and illegal timber logging. She previously held a position in the central Africa team of Human Rights Watch, working with researchers in Rwanda, Burundi and the DRC.
She has a geography degree from Oxford University and a masters degree in international development management from the London School of Economics. She speaks English and French.
