Journalists and mediaAn active and knowledgeable media plays a critical role in helping citizens, civil society organizations and parliaments to hold governments, companies and decision makers accountable. However, in many resource-rich countries, many journalists lack the required breadth and depth of knowledge and skills to report effectively and consistently on oil, gas and mining. NRGI is working to change that by conducting in-depth training courses for journalists. The aim of the regionally specific courses is to bolster media capacity to exercise oversight of the often-complex extractive sector. Scores of journalists from countries in Asia and Africa have participated. Some of them are profiled in the pieces collected here.
