On September 24, as the United Nations General Assembly met in New York, the Open Government Partnership held a high-level event at the United Nations Building. NRGI’s Suneeta Kaimal—joined by fellow OGP co-chairs Rakesh Rajani and the governments of Indonesia and Mexico—showcased country commitments, welcomed new steering committee members, shared the committee’s vision for 2015, and presented the 2014 Open Government Awards, which honor citizen engagement initiatives from around the world. Additionally, ten heads of state, including U.S. President Barack Obama, announced new commitments to open government.
