While global rough gemstones sales are estimated to be worth USD 20 billion or more annually, few benefits from this lucrative trade are captured in the countries where gemstones are extracted. This session will include a presentation of key findings from NRGI's comparative research, and discussion of considerations for ongoing reform of Myanmar's jade and gemstone sector.
