The Eurasia Regional Knowledge Hub is pleased to announce Transforming Extractive Wealth into Sustainable Transparency, a natural resource governance decision chain training course. Running from 21-28 May in Baku, the course is open (with all expenses covered) to officials, academicians, civil society organization members and mass media representatives from Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and Tajikistan.
 
Based on the Natural Resource Charter and administered by NRGI and Eurasia hub experts, the course helps participants understand the linkages between extractive sector transparency, accountability and management issues.
 

 
Participants will actively engage in in-depth analysis and practical implementation scenarios associated with domestic foundations for resource governance; the chain of economic decisions required to manage resources for prosperity; and the international foundations for resource governance.
 
This course will cover:
 
Inclusive and comprehensive national strategy development
  • Accountability and transparency mechanisms
  • Exploration and license allocation
  • Taxation
  • Local effects from extractive operations
  • State-owned enterprises
  • Managing volatile revenues
  • Government spending and investing for sustainable development
  • Role of international foundations in helping promote environmental, social and human rights
