National Oil Companies and Climate Change: Insights for Advocates
Climate and development advocates who seek to reduce fossil fuel supply and promote sustainable economies must engage with state-owned oil companies, many of which are in countries with high levels of poverty. During COP26, NRGI and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) published a briefing sharing five guidelines for engagement. And on 6 December, NRGI, the Global Gas & Oil Network (GGON) and IISD will discuss these insights during a pair of launch events.

Three Steps Toward an Equitable Energy Transition

During COP26, NRGI’s Suneeta Kaimal and Aaron Sayne shared three actions needed from policy makers, activists and the international community to support quicker, fairer energy transitions for fossil fuel- and mineral-producing countries. 2021 Resource Governance Index
2021 RGI assessments published in November include those for Lebanon's oil and gas sector (also in Arabic) and Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector (also in Azerbaijani). A comparative analysis of the 18-country sample detailing trends over time and laying out general recommendations is forthcoming.
