Based in Berlin, Germany, Andrea’s work focuses on the political economy of energy transitions and resource extraction. She joined NRGI in 2021 to contribute to the development of research and advocacy projects on the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition for oil- and gas-rich countries, and the governance of minerals needed to produce low-carbon energy technologies. She also supports NRGI’s capacity development work on energy transitions. 

Andrea has worked for 12 years as a researcher and consultant for various organizations, including UNDESA, UNESCO, ILO, TU Berlin/DIW Berlin and the University of Flensburg, among others, in energy governance, socio-environmental conflicts and rural development. 

Her most recent academic publications focus on the political economy of the energy transition, with cases from Germany, Colombia, Chile and the United States. She holds a Ph.D. in geography from the University of California-Los Angeles.
