Felipe is based in Chile, where he supports the implementation of NRGI’s project for advancing economic and climate justice and governance of transition minerals, focused on lithium.
Prior to joining NRGI, Felipe worked in the public sector in Chile. His last position was in the Ministry of Environment, overseeing the relationship with international institutions such as the United Nations Environment Programme, the OECD’s environment policy committee and the environment and green growth working group of the Pacific Alliance. His areas of focus included resource efficiency, circular economy, sustainable consumption and production, climate change and natural resources policy. Previously Felipe worked at Chile’s Ministry of Mining, where he oversaw intergovernmental relations, international institutions, trade and investment policy in mineral resources. He started his career as an advisor at the National Congress of Chile focusing on energy and mining reforms.
Felipe holds a M.A. in international strategy and trade policy and a postgraduate diploma in environmental law from the University of Chile. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Catholic University of Chile.
