Denis Gyeyir

Africa Program Officer

Denis leads work on disclosure, data generation and data advancement at NRGI’s Accra office.

Previously, Denis was the assistant technical manager at the secretariat of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee, where he actively contributed to PIAC’s statutory reports on Ghana’s management of petroleum revenues. He was part of the team that coordinated the first and subsequent inspections of projects funded from the Annual Budget Funding Amount, a go-to reference report.

Denis holds an M.Sc. in oil and gas management from Coventry University and a B.A. in integrated development studies (economics and entrepreneurship development) from Ghana’s University for Development Studies. He also holds certificates in macroeconomic management in resource-rich countries and liquefied natural gas contract negotiation. Denis has taught petroleum economics at the graduate school of governance and leadership in Accra.

Denis has authored articles on various aspects of Ghana’s petroleum sector, including petroleum subsidies, local content, monetization of stranded natural gas, Dutch disease, the impact of oil production on Ghana’s economy and management of the Ghana Petroleum Funds.
