In his recent role with Chemonics at its Washington D.C., home office, he worked with the corporate partnerships team, offering tailored social investment solutions to companies in the extractive industry. Prior to Chemonics, Zira worked with Newmont Mining in Greenwood Village, Colorado. There, he supported companywide external relations, risk management and sustainability initiatives, particularly in Suriname and Ghana.
Zira specializes in developing and strengthening fiscal regimes for extractive industries. Additionally, he has worked on designing downstream policies in Nigeria’s mining and oil & gas sectors. Zira holds an M.S. in applied economics from Colorado School of Mines, and a B.S. in management information systems from Girne American University.
