On 18 September, the Brookings Institution and partner organizations hosted an event to discuss new developments in how transparency, accountability, and participation initiatives, supported by complementary reforms, can contribute to reducing corruption and achieving sustainable development.

Daniel Kaufmann, president and CEO of the Natural Resource Governance Institute, took part in a panel, "The Case of the Natural Resource Value Chain." It introduced two new research initiatives, one led by the World Bank and International Finance Corporation, and the other led by Brookings, Results for Development and NRGI.

This session was an interactive, town-hall style discussion that benefited from the insights of experts attending from around the world, including representatives of international financial institutions, academia, think tanks, civil society, and the public and private sectors.

The event was webcast live, and viewers followed the conversation on Twitter using #Transparency
