Revealed: The Billions Big Oil Didn't Want You to See

For the first time, U.S.-listed mining, oil and gas companies are required to publicly disclose the payments they make to governments in the countries where they operate. After over a decade of legal and regulatory battles following the passage of Section 1504 of the Dodd-Frank Act, these payments will now be publicly available. These disclosures mark a turning point in the global push for corporate accountability and transparency.
Oxfam America, The One Campaign, EarthRights International, the Natural Resource Governance Institute and the FACT Coalition convened an online event to explore the far-reaching implications of this historic victory.
Panelists discussed how these disclosures provide a crucial tool for civil society to hold governments accountable, fighting the so-called "resource curse" that affects nations rich in natural resources.
