The Guinean government is organizing a national roundtable on responsible mineral development to convene a dialogue on mining policy and governance.
Key stakeholders include national and local government, mining companies, civil society, and local communities.
The results of the roundtable will inform a national strategic plan for the mining sector in Guinea and a long-term vision for the mining sector that is one of Minister of Mines Abdoulaye Magassouba’s priorities and a key area of support from NRGI.
The conference will focus on responsible mineral development in the country and will convene diverse stakeholders focused on extractives there. It will feature high-ranking Guinean government officials, including President Alpha Condé. NRGI president and CEO Daniel Kaufmann will be among those delivering introductory remarks to attendees.
The World Economic Forum is facilitating this dialogue as part of its Responsible Mineral Development Initiative (RMDI), with the support of a number of partners such as the IFC and the World Bank, UNDP, the GIZ and the African Mineral Development Center.
