Dr. Theophilus “Theo” Acheampong is an economist and political risk expert with over 15 years of experience in the extractives industry, public financial management, private sector development, and academia. He has led multiple economics, financial modeling and investment analysis, and trade assignments for governments, international donors, major international banks and private sector enterprises.

Dr. Acheampong holds a PhD in economics and a master of science in energy economics and finance from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. He is studying for a second master’s in taxation at Oxford University, United Kingdom. Theo earned his bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.

He is an adjunct associate professor (senior lecturer) at the University of Dundee (UK), the University of Aberdeen (UK), and the University of Energy and Natural Resources (Ghana). Theo is also a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations in Germany.

Theo has published widely on various academic, policy and media platforms. He has over 70 publications, including edited volumes, monographs, book chapters, refereed journal articles, and commissioned reports. As a public commentator, he is quoted in several international and local media outlets, including the BBC, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Agence France-Presse, CNBC, Al Jazeera, and Joy News, among others.
