Critical Minerals, Critical Moment: Geopolitics, Vulnerabilities and Lessons Learned from a High-Risk Sector
26 March 2026 • 4:30PM CET
Part of the OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum 2026
Are critical minerals the next big challenge for anticorruption efforts? Booming demand, geopolitical tensions and complex supply chains are creating significant vulnerabilities in an already high-risk sector. Whether through conflict, human rights abuses, environmental degradation or supply chain instability, the consequences of corruption in this sector go far beyond financial losses.
At the same time, getting mineral governance right is essential to delivering a just energy transition.
This session will examine the major corruption risks across critical mineral supply chains today. A diverse group of experts, across two panels, will set out the political and market dynamics at play, highlight where risks are emerging and draw on country experiences and evidence. The discussion will also reflect on lessons learned so far and outline practical priorities for the anticorruption community moving forward.
