The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has a central role in Nigeria’s energy sector and economic future. As global energy markets change, the company faces important choices about its investments, commercial priorities and contribution to Nigeria’s energy transition.

Building on discussions held in Abuja in October, this COP31 session will examine how NNPC can respond to a changing global energy system while supporting Nigeria’s wider energy and development goals. It will consider opportunities for diversification, the role of national oil companies in the transition and the governance and investment decisions needed to support economically viable pathways.

NRGI Nigeria Country Manager Tengi George-Ikoli will participate in the discussion, bringing perspectives from NRGI’s research and engagement on national oil company transformation and Nigeria’s energy transition.
