Dialogue Session: The Governance of Critical Natural Resources for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

This high-level dialogue was held on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 2025, as part of the Third Annual UNDP–CAF Conference on Governance for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The session explored proposals for the responsible, transparent and inclusive governance of water, biodiversity, and strategic minerals such as lithium, copper and cobalt. These resources are essential for sustainable development and just energy transitions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The discussion built on participatory regional dialogues and sought to generate actionable recommendations to strengthen governance, development and democracy in the region.
