Forests and the Energy Transition: Navigating Sustainable and Just Pathways

The intersection between forests and the energy transition is a crucial yet complex aspect of environmental sustainability and global development.
To explore the challenges and opportunities at this crossroads, ETH-NADEL and NRGI are hosting a public closing event as part of the advanced course "Natural Resource Governance and Energy Transition: Policies and Practice." This event will focus on regions significantly impacted by deforestation, internal extraction, oil production and energy generation: Colombia, Peru, Indonesia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). A panel-style discussion with experts from these regions will examine the complexities of energy transition initiatives in the context of ongoing environmental concerns, indigenous rights and socio-economic dynamics.
