National Oil Company Transformation: Strategic Choices for an Uncertain Energy Future
21 April 2026 • 10:00AM EDT
National oil companies (NOCs) are at the center of many countries’ and subnational regions’ economies and fiscal stability. As energy markets evolve and economic and climate pressures intensify, governments and NOCs face increasingly complex choices about how to balance economic resilience, energy security, and climate goals.
To support decision-making, NRGI has developed a five-step framework for NOC transformation, presented in its new report National Oil Company Transformation: Strategic Choices for an Uncertain Energy Future. The framework is designed to help governments and NOCs think through effective pathways in response to the opportunities and risks created by the energy transition.
In this webinar, NRGI will introduce the framework and explore how it can support strategic decision-making in different national contexts. The discussion will also feature reflections on how companies and governments are approaching the challenges of NOC transformation in practice.
