This session at the 2022 Alternative Mining Indaba sought to expose the injustice and connections between the energy transition and communities. It sought to provide an Afrocentric perspective on climate change, the energy transition, and the impact of the energy transition on communities. It emphasized how African civil society and policymakers should be positioned to avoid economic injustice and secure a sustainable future. It addressed the issue of just transition and seek to amplify community concerns, corruption risks and missed local benefits as voices within this global agenda and space.
