Overcoming fossil fuel dependency: Identifying fair phase-out pathways for oil and gas producers (PWYP Global Assembly)

The global energy transition will drive down demand for fossil fuels, and will lead to lower prices for oil and gas. This presents challenges for countries whose economies depend on oil and gas exports, as well as for new producer countries which are massively investing in these resources. PWYP members are increasingly calling on their governments to diversify their economies and broaden their sources of revenue. In this session, we’ll look closer at the economic risks of the energy transition and foster sharing of perspectives from members on what needs to change in their countries.
