María Paz González
Chile Senior Program Officer
Based in Santiago, Chile, María Paz supports NRGI's programming in Chile, focusing on the intersection of energy transition and the mining sector. She brings expertise in decarbonization strategies and public policy, working to align industry practices with sustainability goals.
Before joining NRGI, María Paz worked as a senior consultant at Fundación Chile, where she led decarbonization studies for major mining companies such as BHP, Antofagasta Minerals and Codelco. She also held positions at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she contributed to the design of industrial policies and managed the services exports support program, and at the Central Bank of Chile where she specialized in investment analysis, fiscal policy and public spending. Earlier in her career, she advised on macroeconomic policy at the Ministry of Finance, focusing on structural balance methodologies and industrial impact assessments.
María Paz holds a commercial engineering degree and a bachelor’s in economics from Universidad de Chile, as well as postgraduate studies in quantitative economics from Goethe Universität Frankfurt. A native Spanish speaker, she is also fluent in English and has intermediate proficiency in German. She is passionate about promoting gender equality and fostering inclusive environments through her volunteer work.
