Melissa works with NRGI’s Latin America team to lead the organization’s efforts in Peru and reinforce programming in the wider region. She is also a member of the capacity development team.

Prior to joining NRGI, Melissa led the environmental affairs and climate finance team at the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Peru. She has also held positions at the Ministry of the Environment, the Agency for Environmental Assessment and Enforcement, and in the private sector. She is also a law professor at Universidad Científica del Sur.

Melissa holds a master’s degree in environmental policy and regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science, which she earned as a Chevening Scholar. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a second specialty degree in environmental law and natural resources from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. She speaks Spanish and English.
